About
The Rotary Club of Greensburg, Kentucky, was established in 1939 as part of Rotary International’s expanding effort to promote community service, leadership, and international understanding across rural America. Since its founding, the club has served as a civic cornerstone in Green County, bringing together local professionals, business owners, and community leaders dedicated to improving quality of life and strengthening community connections. Through weekly meetings, service initiatives, and fellowship, the club has maintained a consistent presence in Greensburg for more than eight decades.
Throughout its history, the Greensburg Rotary Club has focused on local service projects, youth development, and charitable outreach. Longstanding initiatives include scholarships for local students, support for youth leadership programs, community improvement projects, and direct assistance to individuals and families in need. These efforts reflect Rotary’s guiding motto, Service Above Self, and demonstrate the club’s commitment to addressing both immediate community needs and long-term development goals.
A notable tradition of the club has been its annual fundraising events, particularly its involvement in the Cow Days Fall Festival and the long-running Christmas Radio Auction, both of which have become signature community traditions in Green County. Through these events, the club raises critical funds to support scholarships, youth programs, and charitable assistance. The Christmas Radio Auction, in particular, brings together local businesses, organizations, and residents in a highly visible show of generosity, while Cow Days allows Rotary members to engage directly with thousands of festival attendees. Together, these events not only generate significant charitable support but also reinforce Rotary’s strong ties to the wider community.
In recent years, the Greensburg Rotary Club has continued to adapt to the evolving needs of the community while preserving its core values of fellowship, service, and ethical leadership. Through partnerships with schools, civic organizations, and local government, the club remains actively engaged in projects that promote education, economic development, and community well-being. More than eighty-five years after its founding, the Greensburg Rotary Club continues to serve as a vital force for positive change in south-central Kentucky.
